Why You Should Ski on Christmas Day

If you’re lucky enough to be in the mountains over the festive period, we hope you manage to score some powder turns on Xmas Day! While others huddle around a warm fire, you could be waist deep in champagne powder surrounded by nothing but zen winter wilderness.

To everyone in Canada with us over the Christmas season on a ski or snowboard course, and to all our instructor alumni and community around the world, get up the mountain and have a merry Xmas!

Here’s 6 reasons why you should ski on Christmas Day.

1. Experience a real white Christmas

What better way to live the white Christmas dream than immersing yourself in the snowy abyss of a ski area. Head out into the mountains, feel the snow under your feet and enjoy the winter wonderland on your doorstep.

2. Get your powder fix

With any luck, you might just be greeted with a fresh dump of snow on Christmas morning. Wash away the cobwebs with some deep turns, face shots and powder slashes. If Santa is saving the snowfall for a later date, it will still be damn good carving some arcs in the corduroy.

3. Surround yourself with Christmas trees

Why settle for one tree when you could be surrounded by hundreds of snow-covered firs. Better yet, dive into some gladed tree runs for slice of untouched heaven. If you’re in Fernie, Banff or Red Mountain on one of our ski or snowboard courses, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to tree skiing.

4. Earn your Christmas dinner

We all love to enjoy a bit too much food on Xmas Day. It’s tradition, right? Heading out for a shred is one sure-fire way to work up your appetite and feel like you’ve really earned your seat at the table, and of course make room for a few extra roast potatoes.

5. NO CROWDS

The holiday season is a notoriously busy time for ski destinations, but Christmas Day can be relatively quiet, especially in the morning when everyone is opening their presents. Wide open slopes and short lift lines await those adventurers who brave the elements. Although if you’re in Canada with us, lifts lines are never an issue.

6. Clear your head and disconnect

The run up to Christmas can be frantic and a little crazy. A bit of time on the slopes and a dose of fresh mountain air will give you that much needed opportunity to recharge your batteries and disconnect from the world.
