Snowboard Instructor Qualifications

There are many national snowboard instructor bodies around the world and Nonstop are proud to work with two of the most prestigious and world recognised: The Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI) and Snowboard Instruction New Zealand (SBINZ).

As well as the regular qualifications there are many other courses that you can take during your season with us. Amongst them is a freestyle instructor qualification, which will really help to boost your resume. The following snowboard instructor qualifications are available on Nonstop’s courses, check them out...

Canadian Snowboard Instructor Qualifications

CASI Level 1

The first of four levels, this is an introductory certification, allowing you to teach beginners (70% of lessons!). There's lots of work available for Level 1 CASI instructors in Canada and the USA, as well as other countries around the world. We have a 100% pass rate on our Level 1 courses so it's a great route to take.

We offer this on our 3, 5 and 11 week snowboard instructor courses in Canada.

The Level 2 certification is a big step up – in terms of technical skill and your understanding of CASI methodology. As a Level 2 instructor you will mainly teach intermediate snowboarders, and there is also a pay increase compared to Level 1. The cert is internationally recognised and our clients use this qualification to teach in Canada and around the world in places like Japan and NZ.

You can gain your Level 1 and 2 on our 11 week snowboard instructor courses in Canada.

CASI Park Instructor

With this you’ll be able to teach beginner and intermediate freestyle lessons, from a rider’s first ollie to perfecting their backside 360s. You’ll be assessed on both your teaching and your riding skills and need to smoothly and consistently perform all the basic freestyle moves - straight airs, a variety of grabs, frontside and backside 180s and 360s, as well as pipe riding.

You can take the CASI Park Instructor cert our 11 week snowboard instructor courses in Canada.

New Zealand Snowboard Instructor Qualifications

SBINZ Level 1

SBINZ Level 1 is the first step for every snowboard instructor in New Zealand. After the Level 1 certification you may choose to advance to the Level 2 qualification. Alternatively you may take the Children’s Teaching Accreditation or, for those with competition experience, you may choose the coaching route and take your Level 1 Coach.

We offer this on our 11 week NZ snowboard instructor course.

SBINZ Level 2

This is a well recognised internationally, particularly throughout English-speaking countries and can help you secure a position overseas. After achieving the Snowboard Level 2, most people need to gather instructing experience before attempting the Level 3. Other qualifications to help you progress in the industry include Level 1 or 2 Freestyle, the Childrens Cert, Cross-over Course, or the Level 1 Coach.

We offer this on our 11 week NZ snowboard instructor course.
