We all know that as we continue to progress, skiing will feel even better. If you're still pumped on becoming the best skier you can be (and have your CSIA Level 2 ski instructor certification) then we will help you make the leap to the heights of a Level 3 skier.
Fernie is a mountain that'll improve your skiing as much as the coaching will! It's got all terrain types from narrow chutes, steep tree runs, open bowls, and fantastic groomers. Plus the powder is legendary with typically over 11m of dry light snow per winter.
If you haven't skied there already, you won't "get it" until you've experienced it, but these stats tell some of the story: #1 North American Resort - World Snow Awards, Longest Vertical in the Canadian Rockies, Most number of runs in the Canadian Rockies, North America's Coolest Town - Rolling Stone Magazine.
As with any course, your enjoyment of the coaching, and your success in the Level 3 exam if you choose to challenge it, will be highly dependent on the quality and the characters of your trainers. Fernie's steep terrain and unbeatable snowfall attracts super passionate skiers which means there's a higher than average number of high-end pros that call Fernie their home.
These pros are not only experienced Level 4 instructors but have a wealth of experience training people to gain the Level 3 certification including conducting the courses and exams. The coaching on this course is provided by a team of CSIA Level 4 pros, several of whom are Level 3 course conductors, who have over 100 years of instructing experience between them. You couldn't choose to be in better hands.
You should have a good level of fitness in preparation for the intensive coaching and skiing that will be offered 5 hours per day, 5 days per week. Each week, focused training will be based on one element of the Level 3 skiing exam.
You will teach back to your peers in preparation for the teaching exam. Video analysis will be proved each week and indoor tech sessions will be provided twice each week to compliment the on-snow training.
The first 3.5 days of weeks 1-3 will be spent developing your personal skiing skills to perform and demonstrate the CSIA technique at the "Advanced Level". The remaining 1.5 days of each week are reserved for developing your teaching strategies and practicing teaching in preparation for the Level 3 course. The group will be made up of just 6 skiers so you will have lots of dedicated training time.
Enjoy three weeks of great ski improvement with focused Nonstop training at the Level 3 standard. During your training you will take part in the CSIA Advanced Teaching and All Terrain modules, which form part of your accreditation for Level 3.
Please note that the 5 day CSIA Level 3 course and exam is delivered by the CSIA and is an independent program of Nonstop. Our goal is to successfully prepare you for this course, which will take place during the week after our program. If you wish to stay on in Fernie for this, you will be able to extend your accommodation to cover the dates.
We aim to successfully prepare you for the CSIA Level 3 course. Gaining this qualification is no easy feat but with focused tuition in a structured coaching environment we'll make it both an achievable and fun goal.
If you're a skier focused on achieving your Level 3 certification so that you can develop your instructor career, or keen to progress your personal skiing and enjoy learning in a certification-focused coaching environment, this course is for you. Of course you must have passed both the skiing and teaching components of the CSIA Level 2 Instructor Course before joining us.
We want you to be able to focus 100% on your training so that your chances of success are maximised. We'll arrange everything for your time in Fernie from the training, season lift pass, transport, comfortable accommodation, tasty and nutritious meals, plus a range of regular social events to ensure you're getting the full Nonstop experience off snow.
During the course you'll stay at our very own Red Tree Lodge. It's the perfect place to kick back and relax after a hard day training on the mountain. All your needs are catered for, with spacious beds, hot tub, games room, on site bar and restaurant, movie room and more. The centre of Fernie is only a short walk away so if you fancy a bit of après, or want to check out one of the local restaurants, it's all there for you.
You'll recieve 5 days of content per week. The maximum group size is 6 people per pro but typically they are even smaller. Each week there will be a mix of coaching days and CSIA modules (3 days total). The cost of the modules is not included in our course package because participants, as existing CSIA members, are required to enrol and pay for these CSIA events themselves.
Your accommodation will be in the Red Tree Lodge. You'll have access to all the lodge's facilities, including:
You'll be treated to an awesome breakfast at the Red Tree Lodge seven days per week. Options include a coffee/tea, juices, cereals, toast, pastries, yogurt, fruit, porridge oats, as well as hot items like eggs, beans, sausages, hash browns or bacon.
Enjoy a hearty three course meal at the Red Tree Lodge three evenings a week. A soup and salad buffet will get you started, followed by a choice of healthy and filling nutritionally balanced main dishes before a well earned desert.
You'll be given a season lift pass so you can ski as much as you please. Come out early or stay on after, your lift pass will cover you.
If you arrive with the group flight (or land before), you can join the Nonstop transfer to the resort. All your transport within the resort is taken care of, just don't forget your gear.
Your host will ensure your course runs smoothly. They'll be on hand 24/7 for a chat, laugh, or to solve any problems.
You'll get a 90 minute private coaching before your Level 3.
Throughout the program our coaches will make the most of technical video analysis to help with your development.
Each week you'll receive a technical talk on subjects like biomechanics, looking after your gear, and injury prevention.
You'll be given a advice from our coaches on progressing your instructor career.
Each week your host will organise team socials and après for all the group to get involved in.
You'll be able to get involved with many winter activities and experiences during your time with us, from cat skiing to ice hockey.
