This one’s all about focus. Designed for instructors who already hold their CSIA Level 2, our Level 3 prep course is an immersive two-week block of expert coaching, steep terrain, and deep progression.

You’ll be training with some of the best in the industry — Level 4 pros with a track record of getting candidates across the line. Expect precise feedback, fun sessions, and a sharp focus on both the skiing and teaching components of the Level 3 standard.

Set in the legendary terrain of Fernie Alpine Resort, this is the perfect training ground for upper-level coaching. Steep lines, technical pitches, variable snow — it’s all here, and you’ll learn how to master it with total control.

While the days are structured and demanding, there’s still time to enjoy the Nonstop lifestyle — lodge living, team socials, and the good vibes of a motivated crew chasing the same goal. Whether you’re preparing to take the Level 3 assessment or simply want to push your skiing and teaching to new heights, this course delivers progression in its purest form.

Welcome to Fernie. This week is all about technical mastery and high-end movement patterns. Expect in-depth training sessions led by top-level CSIA Pros, combining intensive personal performance coaching across shorts, longs, bumps and drills, with advanced teaching development and scenarios. Off snow, evening workshops and video reviews keep the momentum going. This is next-level training — and the step-up will be real.

With your technique dialled and teaching sharpened, we turn up the intensity. You’ll push into more complex terrain, with continued focus on versatility, precision, and consistency under pressure. We’ll run mock assessments with personal feedback to fine-tune your performance. Whether you’re working towards the full L3 certification or taking your skiing to new heights, you’ll leave this week a more confident, capable, and dynamic instructor.

Fernie is a skier’s dream: raw, rugged and endlessly rideable. Home to five legendary alpine bowls – Cedar, Lizard, Currie, Timber and Siberia – this mountain is built for exploration. Whether you're carving groomers or dropping into steep chutes, Fernie serves up some of the most varied and exciting terrain in North America.

Fernie’s snowfall is the stuff of legend. With an average of 10 metres per season, it’s one of the snowiest resorts in the Rockies – and the quality is just as impressive as the quantity. A combination of the horse-shoe shape of the bowls, local weather systems and Pacific fronts are to thank for Fernie’s frequent dumps and feather-light flakes.

Fernie isn’t your typical purpose-built ski resort – it’s a real-deal mountain town full of soul, character, and community. Tucked into the southeast corner of British Columbia and rooted in mining heritage, Fernie is shaped by powder-loving locals who live for the mountain. When it dumps over 20cm, shops have been known to close – because skiing takes priority. Historic downtown adds to the charm, with indie shops, craft coffee spots, a vintage cinema, and a community that welcomes newcomers like old friends.

Fernie’s nightlife strikes a perfect balance: lively when it wants to be, low-key when you need it. The scene spans live bands at The Northern, cocktails at Fernie Distillers, and open mic nights at The Brickhouse. Après is more relaxed than Europe, but still has a strong pulse. At the base of the hill, the Griz Bar is the go-to hangout – pitchers of Kokanee flow, pool tables stay busy, and the sun deck comes alive in spring.

At this stage, detail matters — and this course is all about high-level development. You’ll work closely with top CSIA Level 4 trainers who know exactly what it takes to reach Level 3. It’s an intense two weeks of focused coaching, designed to maximise your gains in a short timeframe.

There will be four coaching days each week, with every session structured around a clear objective to reflect the components of the CSIA Level 3 – whether that’s performance skiing, video analysis, or teaching progression. Expect big days on the mountain and detailed feedback that keeps you constantly improving.

You’ll ski with other CSIA Level 2-qualified skiers who share the same drive. With 8 skiers per group, there’s loads of one-on-one attention, peer learning, and a tight-knit team vibe as you progress through the training together.

Led by CSIA Level 4 coaches, this is some of the best instruction in the business. All course conductors themselves, the team knows exactly what Level 3 demands — both in terms of skiing and teaching — and they’ll guide you there with clarity and precision.

This is a training-only course with no exam included. You’ll be working toward CSIA Level 3 standards, gaining the knowledge and tools to take the assessment when you’re ready.

How It Works

Depending on timing and snow conditions, you’ll have the chance to get involved with classic Nonstop extras snowshoeing or XC skiing on a down day.

We keep things relaxed so you can focus on your training, but you’ll still enjoy good company and classic Fernie vibes after hours. Grab a burger at The Brickhouse, hit pool at The Northern, or head on a snowshoe adventure on a down day. It’s a short course, but the social vibe still runs deep — and you’ll be sharing it with other passionate skiers.

Most of your time will be spent on the mountain, but evenings offer downtime to relax, prep for sessions, or enjoy Fernie’s legendary local scene. Activities are optional and designed to complement your training, not distract from it.
