Our Red Mountain snowboard instructor course is perfect for riders who want to take their all-mountain technique to the very highest level. This is the ultimate, challenging powder-laden mountain of your dreams. Red Mountain's snow record is massive, so its steep slopes stay fresh, with stashes of powder around every corner. Rossland must rank as one of the friendliest towns on the planet and boasts a uniquely alternatiuve culture.
Red Mountain is the hidden gem of Canada's ski resorts. It's not a famous holiday resort, so the slopes are very quiet with little or no lift queues. It's virtually Nonstop's own mountain playground, comparable to heli-accessed terrain!
There's not your usual abundance of pistes - riding piste is only used for transport in Red - the real riding is done on the epic expanse of un-groomed terrain. This is a classic steep and deep resort that will challenge you for the whole season and beyond! You'll find 360 degrees of skiing off each of Red's three mountains - Red, Granite and Grey - with powder bowls galore, tree lines and pillows to charge to your hearts' content.
And the fun doesn't end there, with one of the best après ski bars in North America in the form of Rafters - always lively at the end of the day, with regular live music and plenty of flowing drinks.
The challenging nature of Red Mountain's terrain will make your learning curve steep, and our team of high level snowboard instructors will have you riding like a pro in no time. They'll also teach you how to instruct, in preparation for your CASI Level 1 and 2 qualifications. Having these qualifications under your belt from such a challenging resort looks amazing on your CV.
We are honoured to have Mark Impey as our Course Director in Red Mountain, one of the most highly respected and experienced instructors in Canada. With his experience, guidance and support, you'll have an amazing chance to kick-start a career in the snowsports industry... and if that's not in your plans, he'll just show you how to make the most of this amazing riding area!
Many people come to Red on our 11 week course simply to progress, ride and have fun - not necessarily to pursue life as an instructor. We’ll give you the option after your CASI Level 1 snowboard instructor exam to decide whether or not you'd like to work towards your Level 2.
Red is famous for its big mountain riding, so when we head into the second half of the course, the coaching will be split between focussing on all-mountain technique as well as teaching skills. There will be plenty of time allowed for ripping, working towards your goals and enjoying the world-class off-piste Red has to offer. It's then down to you as to whether you want to take the Level 2 exam at the end of the course.
With Red Mountain and the nearby town of Rossland as your base, you'll experience a really authentic Canadian Mountain lifestyle. Above and beyond our coaching, we'll organise a broad range of activities that you can take part in as part of our "More" program.
You'll have a starting balance of 25 credits that you can spend on anything from cat-boarding to winter camping to an avalanche course.
You’ll stay in the nearby town of Rossland in authentic local houses, which you will share with your coursemates. There’s a strong community feel in the town and you’ll quickly fall in love with the simple Canadian life – waking up and heading up the hill to ride.
With your own place to chill out in the evenings and spend time with your friends, you’ll never want to leave. Most people choose to share a room, although single rooms are available if you are looking for more privacy. All properties have kitchens, comfortable sitting rooms, cable TV, Wi-Fi and laundry facilities.
You'll receive 20 hours coaching per week. Our full day coaching sessions are Monday to Thursday, with Friday and the weekends for free skiing, consolidating what you've learnt and other activities. The maximum group size is 8 people per pro but typically they are even smaller.
You'll stay in local houses in downtown Rossland, equipped with everything you need for a great winter.
Enjoy a hearty meal four evenings a week.
You'll be given a season lift pass so you can ski as much as you please. Come out early or stay on after, your lift pass will cover you.
If you arrive with the group flight (or land before), you can join the Nonstop transfer to the resort. All your transport within the resort is taken care of, just don't forget your gear.
