All Mountain Ski ImprovementFernie, Canada - 4 Weeks

1 MONTH IN THE MOUNTAINS!

Picture spending one whole month in the mountains  - no work deadlines, just searching for fresh lines!

You'll achieve lifelong gains to your skiing technique by combining back-to-back 2-week All Mountain Improvement camps. Our team of experienced instructors will show you the very best that Fernie has to offer; whether you're ready to hit double black diamond terrain from the get-go, or you're looking to make that transition from solid piste skier to all-mountain explorer.

This camp is also available in snowboard too.

Resort

Fernie has the largest ski area and the longest vertical in the Canadian Rockies and is famed for its powder and consistently good snow conditions. Combine that with exciting freeride terrain and there's no doubt that this is a dream ski destination.

On top of that, downtown Fernie is an amazing old Canadian mining town, with a really fun and friendly vibe. There are plenty of bars, shops and restaurants to keep you entertained when you're not skiing.

Coaching

It's very hard to progress when you only ski for one week at a time; you spend most of the week getting your stamina and skill back, then by the time you begin to make improvements it's time to head home again!

With focussed coaching over a whole month, you will push through boundaries that have previously stood in your way & make lifelong gains to your skiing technique & confidence on the slopes.

We are experts at taking skiers to new levels, and we love showing you how to enjoy your newly refined skills! Our coaches love to explore and will show you the very best terrain and snow on the mountain. One of your lessons will even start with 'First Tracks', getting the lifts with your group before they are open to the public so you can dive into the powder before anyone else.

Confident on pistes but dream of effortlessly charging through powder? Our coaches will help refine your technique on groomed trails and build your confidence before taking you to more advanced terrain.

Similarly, the camp is designed for skiers with previous off-piste experience that want to develop to the next level. Famed for its challenging terrain, steep slopes and deep snow, Fernie is the perfect environment to develop your off-piste skiing.

Your coaching group will be determined by your skiing experience & you can expect smooth progression over the course of the 4-weeks.

Groups

On our camps you’ll be grouped with skiers who are of a similar ability and share similar goals. This means you can all progress together and tackle terrain that challenges everyone.

To ensure that we can deliver multiple ski groups catering to different experience levels the 4-week packages are achieved by combining back-to-back 2-week camps. This works really well to ensure there is always a great social experience as well as well-matched ability groups.

Weekends & Activities

Make the most of the mountains with our extra activities...

  • First tracks: ride the lifts before they are open to the public. Your own private mountain before sunrise.
  • Cat skiing: like heli-skiing, but a fraction of the cost. Guided skiing of untracked powder, with a piste basher taking you to the top. Possibly the highlight of your year.
  • Technical sessions: get the most out of your skiing with weekly sessions covering topics such as ski tuning, stretching & injury prevention, the history of skiing, equipment advice and nutrition.

Accommodation

Our own hotel, the Red Tree Lodge, acts as the official hub of the course. When the Red Tree gets fully booked we accommodate people at the nearby Park Place Lodge; it’s a 5 minute walk away. This causes the overall cost to be more expensive due to its higher rates – so booking early is recommended!

There is the choice of shared or private rooms - regardless of whether you are travelling alone.  Rooms are spacious with queen sized beds, en suite bathrooms and widescreen TVs. Breakfats will be served at your hotel & inclusive evening meals are served at the Smokehouse, on site at the Red Tree Lodge. There are plenty more bars, restaurants and shops within a short walk.

Each morning we'll take you on a short bus ride to the mountain, where your skis are stored overnight, ready for an epic day on the slopes!

Typical Day Here's what a typical day in Fernie will involve. Now... imagine four weeks of this! Note this is a guideline only.
0730
Wake up to the sound of the ski patrol bombing the mountain because there's been a fresh dump of snow. Energise with breakfast.
0900
Meet your group and discuss the day's objectives. Your coach will lay out the plan, finding the best terrain and snow. Get ready to learn, progress and have fun.
1200
You'll need to stop at some point. Reflect on a great morning and the wipe outs over lunch. Maybe try some Canadian poutine.
1300
Ski some more until your legs give up. Consolidate the skills you were working on in the morning with more mileage and drills.
1500
With coaching for the day complete, enjoy a freeski, head back to your favourite runs or go hit the après early.
1600
Share a jug of beer in the Griz with friends. Head back to the lodge for a hot tub. There might be a tech talk on ski maintenance or biomechanics.
1800
Relax over a well earned dinner as you swap stories from the day's adventures. Lots of chatter in anticipation of the next day.
2000
Head into downtown Fernie for a drink. Embrace Canadian life and cheer on the local ice hockey team. Or just kick back in the movie room.
