Three Week Yoga Teacher Training

Nonstop has partnered with Fernie's favourite yoga studio to give you an incredible way to extend your season while improving your yoga practice and supporting your skiing or snowboarding passion in beautiful Fernie. Whether you've just taken your first yoga class and you're intrigued to find out more, or you're a passionate yoga convert, this course is for you!

So, you’re coming to Fernie for the 11 week instructor course, which is all about skiing/snowboarding in the great outdoors, right? Then why would you consider heading indoors to the yoga studio to take the Yoga Teacher Training Course? There are so many good reasons! Here are just a few...

Become a Yoga Teacher. Taking it to the next level with a teaching qualification will not only help you physically but also help you to extend your season in the mountains with a year-round, world-wide employment

Develop your own practice. You aren’t necessarily considering a career change, but you are keen to nail those more difficult poses, perhaps learn a bit more about the anatomy and philosophy behind the different class types and learn how to develop your own regular home practice.

Support your on-snow performance. A regular yoga practice will be very complimentary to your on snow activities; keeping the body healthy and reducing the risk of injury.  You’ll receive an unlimited pass to the studio whilst you are on the 11 week course, so you can go to as many classes as you like throughout the winter.

Meet some more locals. Use your unlimited yoga pass and become a familiar face at the studio, it’s located a short few minutes’ walk from Nonstop’s various accommodation options in downtown Fernie. It’s a modern, peaceful little place where local yogi’s gather when they aren’t out ripping the mountain. The studio has a great community that’ll welcome you quickly, and a reputation for offering a diverse variety of classes, from hot hatha to yin, led by knowledgeable and approachable teachers.

Extend your time in Fernie. Once you arrive in Fernie, you aren’t going to want to leave. Stay on for another 3 weeks and watch as snowy white turns into green and skis turn into bikes. Got a work visa? Stay for the summer and use your new qualifications!

Reset and refresh. Detox the body and mind, you’ll feel awesome, accomplished and ready for the next adventure.

Who's it for?

This course is for all levels of yoga students! You may be a dedicated yogi who doesn't miss their daily class, or maybe you've just taken your first class and you really liked it, so you are keen to find out more. Francesca at Essential Yoga has coached students from the ages of 16 to 60, and with the ability to reach their knees or well beyond their toes; surfers, bull riders, mountain-bikers, skiers and office-workers looking to support their active lifestyles, and plenty of people hoping to heal their broken bodies. Whether you have the desire to share your love of the yoga practice, or you just want to deepen your own understanding of the physical and mental benefits, you’ll enjoy becoming a part of this wellness trend.

employment opportunities

With your RYT 200 Hour certification in hand you'll be set to take on the world! With the popularity of yoga soaring in recent years you'll have the opportunity to find work in the city or the mountains, anywhere you choose to go. Past students of the course have gone on to use their qualifications in many and varied ways including developing yoga apps, teaching at luxury resorts in South America and South East Asia, combining ski guiding and yoga teaching at heli-resorts, leading shift work yoga sessions at the mines, teaching kids and teens at risk, starting private corporate programs in urban environments, pursuing yoga therapy programs and running their own various retreats around the world. How does it work?

The Essential Yoga teacher training course is unique in that it is one of the most thorough yoga teacher trainings available, and yet it’s structured so that you fit it into a shorter timeframe after the ski & snowboard instructor program. On this course you’ll achieve the Yoga Alliance 200 Hour Certification that is recognised worldwide, and you’ll have earned your stripes under the tutelage of a lifelong, dedicated yoga teacher. You’ll have the opportunity to practice your skills in the “karma classes” teaching local students and start your teaching career in a relaxed environment.

After finishing the 11week course you’ll start your training in the studio. Your daily routine will vary slightly, but will look something like this:
