11 week
Banff snowboard instructor course
Get ready for a rollercoaster ride! This snowboard instructor course combines Nonstop’s legendary program with the massive combined ski area of Lake Louise, Sunshine Village and Mount Norquay.
The most refined snowboard instructor courses, in the stunning Banff National Park
Our 11 week course is the ultimate season and has been tailored to ensure that you have a once in a lifetime experience. As well as over 220 hours of training and plenty of other on-slope activities, our local course host will organise loads of social activities and excursions to help you enjoy the wonders of the Bow Valley! Here's a great video made by a few of our '11/'12 snowboards that really sums it up.
Learn from the very best
Our team of coaches in Banff have been with Nonstop since the beginning and are all extremely experienced Level 3 and 4 instructors. On training days you’ll join a group of no more than 8 riders of a similar standard, so you’ll get plenty of personal feedback and attention. Not only will our coaches teach you to ride with more style and confidence that ever before, they’re a lot of fun to be around and will make every day on the mountain an amazing experience. Meet some of our instructors in this short video.
Ride in three resorts not one
Our snowboard instructor course is the only one that trains in all three of Banff’s local ski areas: Lake Louise, Sunshine Village and Mount Norquay. With these resorts combined, you’ll have exclusive access to the largest ski area in North America and never tire of doing the same runs!
Last season Sunshine Village was blessed with 1,047cm of dry, soft powder. That’s an insane amount of snow! Lake Louise and Mount Norquay also had similar records.
Learn to ride like a pro and become a world recognised snowboard instructor
Our program is designed to fully prepare you for CASI level 1 and 2 instructor qualifications. As well as perfecting your own technique, we’ll show you the very best ways to teach others, giving you the very best chance to succeed in your final exams. In addition you’ll have plenty of opportunities to shadow lessons and practice your instructor skills, which will be extremely useful when you come to apply for your first instructor job.
The alternative to instructor training with our "AMP" program
Of course not everyone on our courses intends to put their instructor qualifications to use, and some riders simply change their minds, so we have created our “AMP” program as an alternative. After taking your Level 1 exams in week 5, you can choose to go down the All Mountain Pro path for the rest of the course. You’ll then focus entirely on progressing your riding skills, without worrying about Level 2 instructor training. Watch a short video about our AMP program here.
A local legend as your course host
The hostess with the mostess. We are very lucky to have Banff legend Emily Park at the helm of this course. She took our 11 week course back in the '06/'07 season and since then has made Banff her home. She knows everything there is to know about Banff - the best runs on a powder day, the best nights out, the cheapest deals in town and she always has her ear to the grapevine for the very latest gossip! She's basically the best thing to come out of Bristol since Jenny Jones... Oh and, by the way, she rips. Check out this video of her in the Sunshine park.
The drinking age in Banff is 18, being in Alberta, so this is a great option for gap year students!
Banff has so much to offer and we'll make sure you experience more
As well as providing an amazing experience in the resort boundaries, we’ll make sure that there are plenty of extra activities lined up for you so that you can really make the most of life in Banff National Park. We’ll organise loads of social events, but on top of that we also offer More, a program of unique experiences such as trips to other ski resorts, cat-boarding and avalanche courses. You'll have a starting balance of 25 credits to spend on these really special activities. Check out some of them below.

Our two accommodation options (Irwin’s Mountain Inn or Samesun hostel) are perfectly located within a few minutes’ walk of the centre, so you’ll be able to sample Banff’s legendary nightlife or hit the shops whenever you like. You’ll feel right at home at Irwin’s with your own queen sized bed, cable TV, en-suite bathroom, gym, hot tub and pool. Alternatively, choose a budget friendly dorm room at the neighbouring Samesun hostel and enjoy being part of this super sociable hostel community.
The Package
Included:
11 consecutive weeks of training (with no breaks)
On every week of the 11 week course you'll receive top class coaching all day from Monday to Thursday. Our coaches are not only the top of their profession but are great people who will inspire you as well as becoming friends. Further training hours include indoor technical sessions, video play back, private lessons, instructor work experience, and our additional training courses.
Full season lift pass (for Lake Louise, Sunshine Village & Norquay!)
We are the only training course provider to have permission to teach at all three of Banff's ski resorts. Training at just one would be extremely limiting - Banff is amazing because it has three ski areas! To get the most of this awesome ski area you need to ski/ride and explore all three ski areas.
Season bus pass
Our season bus pass gives you freedom to choose any public bus and enables you to head to whichever ski resort we're skiing/riding at that day and importantly to choose where you want to ski at the weekends.
Airport transfers (if coinciding with group flights)
We include a shuttle service between the airport and the resort. The departure date and times are coordinated with the times of the group flights we arrange from London to Canada. If travelling at other times or on different dates then we can advise you on the public transfer services available.
1-to-1 private coaching sessions
These are run before your Level 1 and Level 2 exams and offer you the chance of individual tuition to iron out any problems you may have.

Additional Activity Credits
