12 week
New Zealand Ski Instructor Course
It’s well known that spending a winter season in New Zealand is stunning and an amazing cultural experience, but there many other reasons on top of that to take this very special ski instructor course.
The Southern Hemisphere’s best. We’ve chosen Porters ski resort as the base for this course, giving you access to the best off-piste and freeskiing in New Zealand. Porters itself has some excellent cruisey runs that are perfect for training drills and is also the home of two of the longest and steepest in bounds off-piste runs in the Southern Hemisphere. From your base, you’ll also have easy access to the exciting “Club Field” region of New Zealand. You’ll make regular road trips to explore 6 of the Club Fields, all renowned for their challenging ungroomed terrain and quiet slopes.
First class qualifications. Over the twelve weeks you’ll work towards NZSIA level 1 and 2. These are challenging ski instructor qualifications and, as such, are held in high regard by snow schools directors around the world, putting you in a great position to get your dream job!
Go from winter to winter
Being in the Southern Hemisphere, the course runs between July and October, so if you’re hoping to instruct in the Northern Hemisphere afterwards, you’ll only have a couple of months to wait!
In safe hands. Our course director Jason has been training ski instructors in Porters for 10 years and is known as a technical guru! Over the 12 weeks you’ll work with Jason to refine your technique, so that you can enjoy the challenges of this amazing ski region. Although focussed, our training has a personal and fun approach. You’ll train for 5 days per week, mostly in small focused groups with the occasional 1-to-1 sessions. We will fully prepare you for the final exams just by doing what you love every day.
Real work experience. Over your course, you'll work closely with the Porters ski school and get plenty of hands-on work experience. Having real experience such as this will be extremely valuable when you come to apply for ski instructor jobs.
Experience New Zealand. Based close to Christchurch on the South Island of New Zealand, you’ll have access to the very best of this amazing country. As well as skiing, you’ll have the opportunity to go surfing, hike glaciers, go jet boating and maybe even go to watch the All Blacks!
Everything on a plate. We’ll organise everything you need, so that you can just sit back and enjoy the experience. You’ll stay at the Springfield Hotel, with a comfortable room, on site pub and evening meals five nights per week. Plus your breakfasts and lunches will be provided seven days per week. So you’ll be fully fuelled for a full-throttle programme!
