Fernie is recognised as one of the world's best powder destinations. The resort and town has something for everyone, once you've got here, you'll never want to leave. Renowned for it's epic annual snowfall, year after year Fernie tops the charts with the amount of snow it receives. You'll experience more knee to waist deep powder days in Fernie than any other resort in Canada.
With five large alpine bowls, plenty of gulleys, endless accessible off piste & tree runs, a rail park and lots of natural lips and jumps to huck off - it's nature's way of saying 'welcome to the best winter playground... ever!'.
Fernie Alpine Resort has something for everyone; no matter what standard of skier or snowboarder you are, there will be terrain to challenge you and new runs to explore.
Fernie isn't just about the powder; the town is very friendly and has a welcoming community. The locals will make you feel like you belong from the moment you arrive, right up until you leave... if you ever do! With a fantastic selection of local bars, pubs and restaurants, all your social needs are catered for.
We are the proud owners of a 42 bedroom hotel in the centre of Fernie and we're regularly #1 in Trip Advisor!
We purchased and refurbished the lodge especially for our course participants in order to create a homely atmosphere. We installed a wide range of facilities you wouldn't typically find: a games room, movie theatre, ski/board tuning room, laundry, large communal kitchen, hot tub, sauna, and a pool. Breakfast and supper are served at our adjoining bar and restaurant.
The lodge has spacious bedrooms with two queen beds and an en-suite. Bedrooms have views of the stunning local mountains (some have private balconies).

Nonstop is an awesome experience if you are looking to ignite your passion for skiing. The varied programs give you the opportunity to progress to a Level 2 CSIA instructor, or to just enhance your skills and your enjoyment of life's journey, called ''skiing''. Fernie Alpine Resort has a beautiful blend for skiers of all abilities. Long groomed runs,'steeps', tree trails, open alpine bowls and short traverses that take you to hidden areas that excite your senses. These include ''Skydive'', my favourite run! After many seasons as a ski instructor, I am loving teaching with Nonstop. I am not sure who is having more fun, me or my guests!
I am a CSIA Level 3 ski instructor, Level 1 CSFC Coach and Level 1 CSIA Examiner.

Fernie is a great little ski town, tucked away in the East Kootneys. Were off the beaten path so not too many travellers make it out this way. Our small population makes for a relaxed atmosphere and great parties. Fernie has steep terrain full of cliff drops, gullies and endless glades. The large accumulation of snow makes it a safe place to push your limits and excel at your chosen sport. Another bonus is that the town is only ten minutes away from the ski hill so commuting back and forth is easy and traffic is non existent.
Nonstop is a great program because its allows riders to progress at an exponential rate. We put our clients in an environment where they are being pushed and challenged on a daily basis. The coaches are highly qualified and know the mountain inside and out which means you get to ride the best pow stashes on the mountain. I have been coaching Nonstop for many winters and every day I'm out, I'm loving it and having a blast!
I am a CASI Level 4 snowboard instructor, Level 2 evaluator and park Level 1. I am also a CSIA Level 2 ski instructor.

The combination of snow and terrain at Fernie Alpine Resort; varying from groomed runs to tree skiing and steeps, changing snow conditions and weather, delivers a huge range of interesting and challenging riding. I’ve been skiing in Fernie for over 16 years and continue to find new secret lines each season keeping it fresh and fun. The City of Fernie is a friendly community inviting visitors to local events from Ghostrider Hockey games to live bands at the local establishments. Activities, including badminton, the Aquatic Center and The Arts Station events, will keep those who want more after a big day at the ski area busy. Be sure to check out The Fernie Fix and Fernie.com to see what events are on during your stay.
Nonstop has created one of the best skiing experiences since I have been in the ski industry. With all the options for different interests and abilities offered there is a course or camp for you. It’s a pleasure working with this tight knit team from marketing to pros and barkeeps. We all take pride in providing you with a memorable experience.
I am a CSIA Level 3 ski instructor with Level 1 Course Conductor, CSCF (Coach) Level 2 and over 25 years of experience.

I love Fernie because of the terrain and the snow. The powder is epic and the terrain is unmatched. It's a vast mountain and I am constantly finding new zones to have fun in! If you like deep snow and trees it's the place to be!
I am a CASI Level Level 4 snowboard instructor, Level 3 evaluator, Level 2 park instructor and CSIA Level 1 ski instructor.
My gig with Nonstop is probably the best! I sometimes feel guilty for it but I am almost sure nobody hates me for it! I get to jump from one wicked resort to the next while leading my guests through the Snow Safaris. To me, that is why the Nonstop experience is so amazing. Every new hill we arrive at, my job is to show my interim family every sweet spot the mountain is hiding. By the time we have sessioned each lift, it’s time to pack up and explore the next one. One Trick Pony, Kill the Banker, Beer Belly and Easter Bowl are only few favourite runs, come find yours!
I am a CASI Level 3 snowboard instructor, Level 2 course conductor, Park 1 and carving instructor.

I first came to Fernie in December of 2000 to work with the ski school for the winter, and I never left. I came here for the challenging skiing and the powder, and stayed because of the people that I met. I feel a sense of belonging in my community. Nonstop is a unique experience that fits well with the community here in Fernie. Like me, you will come here to improve your skiing, but leave with so much more!
I am a CSIA Level 3 ski instructor, CSCF Level 2 and Freestyle Level 1.
Why Fernie? I have been teaching and coaching for 11 years, 22 seasons, in Austria, France, Switzerland, and Australia. I have experienced some of the most incredibly modern resorts in the world with hundreds of kilometers of perfectly manicured terrain available, and yet Fernie has something that none of these places have, and by their very nature never will! From the quaint friendly town, with its mis-matched houses to west Fernie where you can own a hoofed animal! From the old school apres at the Griz Bar at the hill to Name That Tune night at The Royal. From the fantastic teaching terrain on lower mountain to Polar Peak! It's all so simple and genuinely brilliant without any gimmicks (..or heated seats)
My first time up the mountain, I was like a kid in a candy store - Fantastic tree runs and chutes right off the lifts and plenty off them! Come ride and explore this incredible place with us and experience Fernie's steep and deep for yourself.
I am a CSIA Level 3 ski instructor, Level 1 course conductor and CSCF Level 2 race coach. I also hold the Austrian staatlich, Swiss snow pro, the highest ski qualifications in each country.

I grew up on our family-run ski area just outside Vernon, BC. My ski patrol career started in 1985 at Blackcomb Mountain in Whistler. After moving to the Kootenays and patrolling at Fernie, I became the ski patrol director at the resort for many years. Recently, I worked at Island Lake Catskiing as a tail-guide, avalanche technician and snow safety specialist.
I have been a professional member of the Canadian Avalanche Association for 15 years and hold an Avalanche Operations Level 2 certification. I also have a WorksafeBC Avalanche Blasting Ticket and Occupational First Aid Level 3. Other ski related accomplishments include having been a member of the Canadian Freestyle Ski team and the North American Powder 8s Champion.
Fernie is a unique destination to train for ski patrol as it has steep terrain and a deep complex snowpack. This makes the job of a ski patroller challenging, variable and fulfilling. I love living and working in the mountain town of Fernie and I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with the participants of the Ski Patrol program this winter.
After working and skiing in Europe I decided to move to Fernie. It was only then I realised the true meaning of skiing and the ski town. Soul, passion and snow! If it's face shots on Snake Ridge, high fives at the end of another epic ski day or dancing to the foot stomping sound of Shred Kelly at the Northern Bar, Fernie has it all.
As well as the amazing skiing in the area you will also find amazing locals that have stories to share and chairlifts to be shared with. It’s the stereotype to be most proud of; ‘Canadians are too friendly’ and this is amplified in the Kootenays. You will also find real skiers here in the Kootenays. Guys and girls out on the hill or in the backcountry loving every moment, doing what makes them happy, skiing! And finally the snow, Fernie has huge snowfalls which mean more pow days then you have ever had before. I will let you discover the meaning of the Fernie Factor when you get here!
I am a CSIA Level 3 and CSCF race coach.
Nonstop in Fernie will challenge you technically, tactically, physically and mentally, but more importantly the experience will expand your horizons and bring a whole new perspective that will remain with you for a lifetime. “Dreams that you dare to do, really do come true…"
I am a CASI Level 4 ski instructor, senior CASI Level 4 examiner and Level 2 coach. I was the first female to examine at Level 4 in western Canada and am a former Canadian Demo Team member.
