NONSTOP New Years Party!
With our 2 and 3 week instructor and improvement courses under full swing the New Years Eve Party at the Red Tree Lodge in Fernie was about to start!
With 20cm of fresh snow over the last few days and it still falling there was a good vibe in town and amongst the NONSTOPpers. The theme at the Red Tree Lodge was ‘Rock Stars’. After getting back from a full day on the hill many people disappeared to their rooms in order to create their masterpieces, including Adam, Jenny (our Fernie hosts) and I.
There had been much deliberation throughout the day as to who we should go as, Jenny and I had tried to convince Adam to cross dress – he did it so well last year! In the end we decided to go as a trio, a lot of white face paint and black eye liner as bought.
Adam, although not cross dressing this year did turn up in a pair of his housemates skinny black jeans (very fetching) and Jenny and I had black leggings and black tops. We went to work and slowly our masterpieces were unveiled as Gene, Ace and Stanley appeared – Kiss!

We came down to dinner and were pleased to meet a plethora of other celebrity rock stars such as Ozzy Osborne, Debbie Harry, Avril Lavigne, Elvis, The Spice Girls, Enrique Iglesias, A rockstar-santa and Amy Winehouse amongst others!

The Red Tree served up a delicious 8 course taster menu with oysters, tomato soup, walnut and Stilton salads, sorbets to cleanse the pallet, a choice of salmon, steak or filo pastry, maple syrup cheese cake or chocolate torte, coffees and champagne! Followed by a fantastic live band, Bubba Tres (very popular with the locals) and more champagne and dancing.
The Rock Stars partied their way into the night and welcomed in the New Year in Fernie, the snow was still puking it down – not a bad way to start 2010!
Those who managed to escape too much of a hangover made it up the hill first thing the next day for some fresh New Year turns.
