Paper free resort guides in Canada
There’s one thing I have no time for anymore – piste / trail maps. For a start they’re made of paper which, as well as being environmentally wasteful, tends to get tatty, soggy and unreadable in no time at all. So, we were pretty excited when we were sent through some new “Go Guide” iPhone apps that solve our trail map problem, and have plenty more useful features as well.
So for around a couple dollars you can get an app for your iPhone that will tell you a stack load of useful information about the resort you’re visiting, including an overview of the mountain activities, daily snow reports and tips from locals about points of interest, restaurants, etc. Plus, with a bit of GPS wizardry, you’ll be able to find everything featured in the guide with ease.
We’ve been testing ours around Fernie, but there are also guides available for Whistler, Sun Peaks, Kimberley, Big White, Silver Star, Kicking Horse, Jasper, Revelstoke, Red Mountain (Rossland), Banff (Sunshine Village, Lake Louise and Nakiska) and Comox (Mount Washington).
