Here’s how our Red Mountain crew got on with their Whitewater, Nelson and Ainsworth Hot Springs road trip.
Monday showed the start of a good week for all with half continuing private lessons and the other half having the day off. Positive vibes came out of the day when everyone hopped on the bus for the lovely Sunshine Café dinner. Tuesday to Friday, everyone continued with the usual lessons with Tad and Matt. This week was changed up with a focus in the Level 1 Exams the following week. When going to dinner during these next days, there was a slight change in everyone’s attitude from having to go back to entry level skiing. Last week participants on our 11 week instructor course in Fernie gained valuable experience working as ski and snowboard instructors. I have to confess to being somewhat of a technophobe; I can get by but don’t ask me how something works, it just does! The same used to be the case with snowboards; I didn’t put any thought into how my board was working, I just worked it! I’ve ridden many boards and have always had a good time on them, so I guess I figured all the tech talk was just that… talk! Ski…sleep…shred…sleep… Obviously the vast majority of your time on a ski or snowboarding season is spent on the mountain taking your sport to the next level… but what do you do when you’re not killing it on the slopes (or sampling the apres?). Last night’s coverage of the Super Bowl in the U.K brought back some fun memories of watching this sporting showpiece unfold from Whistler and got me thinking of other entertainment Canada has to offer.
