Western Canada Snow Safari gets underway

Snow Safari DrivingThe third of this year’s Snow Safaris has just got underway. Over the next couple of weeks our lucky group of skiers and snowboarders will be travelling around some of the best “steep and deep” resorts in the world: Kicking Horse, Revelstoke, Red Mountain and Fernie.

Here’s how the first couple of days have gone, from Carlos our guide for the trip:

Today’s the first day of our Level 1 exams – at least it was for the skiers. As snowboarders, our exams are a day shorter in length, so while the skiers prepped and crammed, we were boarding the bus to spend another sweet day at Lake Louise under bluebird skies and a blazing sun. Read more »

Banff instructor course diary – week 4

Monday

The last week before level one and the tension started to mount with punctuality, concentration and perspiration much increased, even with some lagging from the previous nights exertions. The weather was cloudy to match the more serious nature of the lessons. In Charlie’s group some were close to tears as the intense scrutiny we were put under stretched some to breaking point. As a result of the day’s intensity and in small part the night before’s, Monday night was a quiet affair punctuated by little of any interest. Read more »

Late January race training in Serre Chevalier

Previously in our updates from Serre Chevalier, our trainee instructors had been working heavily on their slalom race training. While on holiday in Serre Chevalier last week I hooked up with Ryan and Adam to get an insight on how it’s all been going. They were both buzzing with excitement and were having an amazing time pushing themselves to the limit. The enormity of the Test Technique had become a reality for them but they were fully dedicated to giving their all. Read more »
