Nonstop Improvement Camps

Jens' Perspective

"In Canada you ski the whole mountain...this is very different than skiing in Europe, I like this much more."  This is what Kasia said after doing a two week improvement camp in Fernie.

Kasia totally embraced everything Canada, Fernie and Nonstop had to offer. With a ski racing background, Kasia could lay down some deep arcs. We had a blast learning how to soften those carving skills for the off piste and the powdery snow we were blessed with during her two week camp.

The foundation of the Nonstop lesson structure is centred around your skiing and snowboarding goals.

Our commitment to you - we share where the best snow on the mountain is and how to find it. The Nonstop Pros are dedicated to teaching you how to improve your technique and gain confidence in this winter wonderland.

"I return to Fernie because the on hill instruction is excellent. Even if I am having an off day, the instructors seem to just know how to get the most out of my skiing." This is what Sandy had to say, who has been on several of our camps in Fernie.

One of the highlights of my season was seeing Sandy go through a number of break throughs. One particular afternoon comes to mind. Sandy has an incredibly positive energy and she was firing on all cylinders. The group was small and everyone wanted to charge. We had found some lovely soft and forgiving snow through a section of trees, no one was skiing this area, it was a long traverse back to the lift but well worth it. Due to the extended traverse, I would only do this circuit once in a day. With Sandy, Ali, Kasia and Oscar all charging, we shredded this zone within the trees 6 times that afternoon! It was amazing to watch everyone's confidence, speed and skill excel in an off piste/ tree environment. Everyone was feeding off of each other's energy and positive vibe. This is the ultimate moment of ski teaching, it's a feeling of skiing with friends, everyone is stoked and they are improving in ways they aren't even aware of. They are thriving in the moment, making natural movements, reacting to the snow and adjusting instinctively, having rhythm and flow, they are in the zone. This is why I teach...

The off piste experience isn't only about blower deep pow. I'm not going to lie, it's awesome when it is. But it's about developing and improving your skills in the off piste and taking your riding to the next level.

I absolutely love seeing our guests transform from a piste skier to a powder hound, seeking out powder stashes, from first lift to last lift of the day.

Another of our clients, Katrina, arrived on our MTM course as a very accomplished skier with an extensive all mountain riding background throughout Europe. For Katrina to claim this statement shows how a positive mindset and a willingness to learn can impact someone's confidence at any level. Katrina's confidence and skills soared throughout the camp, and she was skiing even better and with more style and confidence by the end.

2016 was a most memorable season. Thank you to everyone that joined us in our little corner of the world. Thank you for taking a moment to check out a few highlights. I would love to share more stories and insights about any of our camps or courses.
