Master The Mountain Course Diary - Week Three

The MTM grows more action packed week after week. This week started out with an informative Avalanche Awareness day at Fernie Alpine Resort. The FAR Patrols lead snow study exercises and transceiver training practices...

F6MTM2015W3 Resort

Those who booked a Cat Ski day had an amazing time ripping the backcountry with Fernie Wilderness Adventures. Tons of fun pushing the limits and applying their new skills developed over the past two weeks tearing up the powder. Huge thanks to the guides at FWA and to our pros with Nonstop for all their hard work paying off.

Nonstop pro’s Jens and Ryan led our skiers and snowboarders in a tuning and waxing tech session. This informative session gave our crew the tips they need to to maintain their gear between major tunes. How to sharpen edges, wax base and fill core shots were all covered.

F6MTM2015W3 Kimberly Lift

Our Nonstop bus loaded first thing in the morning on Thursday for a road trip to Kimberley; a sister resort to Fernie that is known for beautiful days, amazing scenery and a healthy dose of Vitamin D. We also lucked out with some blower powder to dabble and play with as a fun alternative option to the pristine corduroy.

Wendy Mac ran a Cross Country Ski night event with rentals from the Gear Hub, Ski Base and the Quest. Followed by a bonfire night at Nonstop pro Louisa’s House. Thanks so much for Louisa for hosting the event. We all had a ton of fun with some smoke scented gear as a free souvenir!

F6MTM2015W3 Clarence

Nonstop pro Clarence ran a session for our Split Boarders on Friday to help their preparation for the upcoming and highly anticipated guided touring days in Fernie’s legendary backcountry.

F6MTM2015W3 Jeremie Group

We finished up the week with a farewell après session and Dinner party to send off those on our three week camp. We were joined by all our pros to bring the whole team together. Luckily lots of the crew are on extended stays so the fun will continue!

USEFUL LINKS

The Master the Mountain course is a six week program that gives you the best possible training in big mountain skiing or riding. It's an ideal course for a career break, culminating in a trip to a remote backcountry lodge accessed by helicopter. The ski camps and snowboard courses are a great way to make sure that you don't just cruise around on the mountain, but that you actually improve. They are great fun, super sociable and you come away being able to tackle terrain you could only have imagined before your Nonstop program. Come and join us in Fernie and find out for yourself.
