Every April in Fernie there an event called Hot Dog day when most people dress up in 70s and 80s ski gear and hit the slopes for a fun day looking flare! The name originates from the cult ski movie Hotdog.

View from the plane

The other day on my way to see our group in Whistler, I took a small plane from Cranbrook Airport (an hour from Fernie) to Vancouver.

The weather was perfect and the views of British Columbia’s various mountain ranges were awesome. Photos from plane windows never look that impressive but hopefully these three give an idea of the scale of Western Canada’s mountain wilderness.

Crazy Surfing on the River Seine!

A New Free Skiing World Record!

Freeskier worldrecord22.jpgSimon Dumont broke the World Quarter Pipe Record today in his home resort of Sunday River. The Bethel local hit 34 ft, breaking the previous record of 32.5 ft held by snowboarder Terje Haakonsen. Dumont broke the record with a cork 900 tail grab.

Don’t do this at home kids!

We don’t necessarily encourage this but we thought one of our seasonnaire’s dedication to the cause was news worthy after he got a tattoo of Canada’s national emblem, the Maple Leaf with the letters O.G.S inside. The O.G.S is Fernie’s Old Grocery Store which NONSTOP converted into an awesome lodging, complete with pool and fooseball tables for NONSTOPpers. Now that’s a lasting memory! picture-003.jpg
