Fernie 11 Week Ski Instructor Course ‘07 – Week 2

By Katie East & Dave Gatenby

On the mountain

This week we were introduced to the requirements needed for AMP and Level 2 so we can decide which to take after our level 1.

Most loved the expression session, part of the AMP, as they were able to test out 180s, 360′s and of course the infamous worm turns!

Snowmobiling

Letting a bunch of excited NONSTOPpers loose on snowmobiles was always going to cause trouble! So when someone flew off the back and ended up wrestling a tree we were all relieved there were no injuries, other then his pre-existing mental issues!

All in all it was a fantastic day topped off with a camp fire in the snow, to cook hot dogs on!

Ice hockey

Cisco, Croteau and Roth, the Fernie Ghostrider heroes, performed spectacularly in their 2 matches this week, winning 3 – 1 and 10 – 1!

Some memorable fights and brilliant music kept the crowds going, not that they needed encouragement with Mexican waves circling the arena every 5 minutes!

The atmosphere was amazing and listening to the angry Canadian fans cheering was actually quite funny!

Kimberly

Was the highlight of the week for many. The day was mainly spent with Chris Ebbern, one of the best freestyle instructors and watching him was such an inspiration to do the park and pipe course.

Jack Banfield ripping up the rails in the park was also pretty special, not to mention Dave Gatenby throwing 360′s over bumps and off kickers. Awesome!
