Banff 11 Week Ski Instructor Course ‘07 – Week 7
Tuesday at Norqay was spent practicing carving followed by a swim at the Banff centre and then a few rounds of pool at the Paddock.
Wednesday morning was ski evaluation techniques and in the afternoon we where able to exercise the learned techniques by teaching friends of our instructor.
Thursday morning our group worked on pressure control during short radius turns, later put into practice on a slalom racecourse. After, dinner at the Elk lined our stomachs before the weekly Melissa’s and Hoodoos night.
Friday was the Backcountry Touring activity at Bow Peak a day of spectacular scenery and skiing fresh powder lines.
Saturday I shadowed a Club Ski instructor and 4 crazy kids for the day.
Sunday we skied Kicking Horse. A 2-hour bus drive to the town of Golden and a 20-minute gondola ride up, during which we debated which line to pick! A great end to a fun week!
