Fernie 11 Week Ski and Snowboard Instructor Course ’05 – Week 3
Level 1 Prep and Hockey
Despite the many sets of crossed fingers the Griz (the local snow deity) didn’t fire his musket for another week. However this week’s lessons took place in Fernie and the focus on our looming level 1 kicked in. With disappointing conditions there did seem to be more enthusiasm for our après ski then the skiing itself.

On Friday we had another true Canadian experience when we went to Cranbrook (an hours drive) to watch the Kootenay Ice hockey game. This game was nothing compared to our very own Fernie Ghostriders, with more excitement being shared about the buffet and free drinks! Even their hairy dancing mascot (see photo) failed to excite the most hyperactive of us. Having returned in a slightly inebriated state the more hardcore people decided to venture into the streets of Fernie for a night on the tiles.
