Banff 11 Week Ski and Snowboard Instructor Course ’05 – Week 2
WEEK 2 by Melissa (NONSTOPSKI)

Temperatures have now risen unusually high, it is currently + 12 in Banff….global warming seems to be playing havoc but at least the conditions are still good at all 3 resorts. Monday was spent at Lake Louise, Tuesday at Mt Norquay, Wednesday back to Louise, Thursday at Sunshine and Friday at Louise. I was fortunate to have one of the best days skiing I have had in a long time at Lake Louise on Friday. There was over a foot of fresh snow, the hill was empty, the sky was blue and the sun was shining – what more could we have asked for? I skied with all the groups and everyone has come on leaps and bounds from a week ago…it must be down to the quality of our instructors!!! There were plenty of wipe outs, the most spectacular from Gordon…and we got it on video! Unfortunately due to the rise in temperatures at lower altitudes the end of the week saw allot of rain in much of Western BC so the weekend trip to Jasper had to be postponed due to dangerous driving conditions. However the conditions at higher altitudes were still good so most people headed for Sunshine and Lake Louise over the weekend. Sadly I missed Grant’s BBQ in the training centre on Tuesday night but I hear it was delicious. There is a lot of gossip that I could write about but I think the saying is ‘what goes on tour stays on tour’…..?!
